About LA Opera's College Outreach Program: OPERA U

Think you know nothing about opera? We bet you do. Some of the hottest Hollywood directors use opera music in their films to convey all extremes of emotion. Most likely many of your favorite movies include some of opera's great musical moments such as The Godfather, Pretty Woman, The Talented Mr. Ripley, The Shawshank Redemption, and many more. We invite you to experience the thrill of opera with us this season.

Opera is Passionate, Spectacular and Sensuous.

Wagner's Tristan and Isolde tells the story of doomed eroticism and passion set before David Hockney's stage designs. Herbert Ross brings Christmas Eve in 19th century Paris to life in Puccini's beloved romance La Boheme. Mozart writes of a more frivolous love which ends in dismal circumstances for the playboy Don Giovanni . LA Opera's 2007/08 Season is truly a year filled with passion, spectacle and sensuality.
