Soprano Valerie Vinzant made her Company debut during the 2008/09 season as Frasquita in Carmen, returning as Papagena in The Magic Flute and the First Thrush in The Birds. She is in her first season as a member of the Domingo-Thornton Young Artist Program. This summer, she will join the young artist program at Santa Fe Opera, where she will perform the First Bridesmaid in Le Nozze di Figaro. As a member of the Wolf Trap Opera Studio, she appeared in John Musto's Volpone as the First Judge. She studied German Lieder at the American Institute of Musical Studies in Graz, Austria. She won the Dallas Opera Guild's top prize in 2007 and is a two-time recipient of Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions awards. She earned her Bachelor of Music degree from Southern Methodist University. As a Master's student at Indiana University, she studied with soprano Carol Vaness and performed Susanna in Le Nozze di Figaro and the Sandman in Too Many Sopranos. She has appeared as a soloist with the Dallas Opera Symphony and with the Bloomington Baroque and Classical Orchestras. |
