Giorgio Caoduro makes his LA Opera debut as Doctor Dulcamara in The Elixir of Love (L'Elisir d'Amore) in September 2009. Born in Monfalcone, Italy in 1980, he is rapidly becoming one of the leading Italian baritones of his generation. He has made debuts in recent seasons at the Royal Opera Covent Garden, San Francisco Opera, Teatro Comunale di Bologna, Opéra National de Paris, Berlin State Opera, Frankfurt Opera, Teatro Regio di Torino, Teatro Carlo Felice in Genoa, Aix-en-Provence and others. He completed his studies at the Accademia Rossiniana in Pesaro with soprano Cecilia Fusco and was a winner in several competitions, among then the Lignano Sabbiadoro Competition and the International Associazione Lirica Concertistica Singing Competition in Milan.
Giorgio Caoduro's engagements for the 2007/08 season included Le Nozze di Figaro in Aix-en-Provence, and Albert in Werther with Sonia Ganassi and Giuseppe Filianoti and Ping in Turandot, both at Teatro Carlo Felice in Genoa. He returned to Bologna for his debut in the role of Enrico in Lucia di Lammermoor, and subsequently made his debut at Teatro San Carlo in Naples as Ping in Turandot. He also debuted at the Deutsche Oper Berlin as Figaro in Le Nozze di Figaro.
In the fall of 2008 Caoduro made his debut at the San Francisco Opera as Belcore in L'Elisir d'Amore opposite Ramon Vargas. He then made his debut at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden as Ping. In the spring of 2009 he debuted the role of Riccardo in I Puritani with the Greek National Opera in Athens and appeared as Enrico in Lucia di Lammermoor in Salerno with Nino Machaidze and Daniel Oren. Future engagements include his return to La Scala in 2010 as Belcore, Marcello in La Bohème at the Berlin Staatsoper and Ping in Turandot in Monte Carlo. He will also be heard as Guglielmo in Così fan tutte with the Chicago Symphony at Ravinia under the direction of James Conlon.
Giorgio Caoduro made his United States debut during the 2006/07 season as Figaro in Dallas Opera's production of Il Barbiere di Siviglia. He was hailed by the Dallas Morning News: "The real discovery is Giorgio Caoduro, a 25-year-old Italian baritone whose firm, forward tone is allied to a natural exuberance…you'll not hear the role better sung anywhere." Also during the 2006/07 season, he appeared as Silvio in Pagliacci in Genoa and as Belcore in L'Elisir d'Amore in Torino alongside Juan Diego Flórez. He appeared at the Aix-en-Provence Festival in the title role of Le Nozze di Figaro, and returned to Torino for the role of Ping in Turandot.
Other notable past engagements include L'Italiana in Algeri at the Berlin Staatsoper and Aix-en-Provence, Il Barbiere di Siviglia at Stuttgart State Opera, Opéra de Montpellier and Opéra National de Paris. He has also appeared in La Cenerentola in Trieste, Glyndebourne, Frankfurt and Paris.
